I am generally not one to fawn over musical artists. I like
to think that most of the time I appreciate their art and could care less what
they look like. Sometimes I just cannot help myself.
Ms. Van Etten is from New Jersey and released her 4th
album “Are We Here” in 2014. I would
describe her as the folk version of Fiona Apple or possible Patti Smith if she
had grown up in the digital age. Her lyrics are generally about something lost
or a mistake made in life. Her voice is outstanding with a bit of blues and
folk mixed in.
While Sharon has had other songs in the year end countdown
for me, none have cracked the Top 100 until now. She has 4 songs in the Top 500
(my whole list) and this will be the first of 2 songs from her in this year’s
top 100.
A side note; there are 19 artists that have multiple songs
in the Top 100. 3 of these have 3 songs in a piece.
