#86 Eels - "Mistakes of My Youth"

There are tons of great things I can say about Eels. They have put out countless great records over the span of the last 20 years.  Plus they put on a heck of a show this year in DC (with Steve Perry guest singing!).  I'll let NPR's Bob Boilen do the rest:

The new record by Eels, called The Cautionary Tales Of Mark Oliver Everett, comes out April 22. Unlike the rock 'n' roll sound of Oliver's last album, this one is contemplative and personal, and features a live orchestra.
Mark Oliver Everett reflects on the subject matter in this song, "Mistakes of My Youth," this way: "I may as well have been raised by wolves. I've had to figure everything out the hard way, through trial and error. I grew up very fast in some ways, and very slow in others. These are some of the trials and errors." The tune "Mistakes Of My Youth" is a good example of that.
