Seriously, if you are not a New Pornographers fan, I question
your hearing capacity. In an alternate (read: better) world, the New
Pornographers are like the Beatles playing deliciously hooky, catchy, but not
musically watered down pop music for everyone to hear on FM radio and in
department stores everywhere. They win Grammys and headline “music festivals”
in Las Vegas. They appear nude in tabloid magazines and are spokespeople for
watches and toilet paper. They…. Wait, I
got off track.
Canada’s New Pornos came out with their 6th album
this year and while it’s not Electric Version or Twin Cinema, it’s better than
their last record and therefore earns them 2 spots in the top 100. This is the
first, the title track to their 2014 disc “Brill Bruisers”.
Also, if you live in Baltimore, they are playing at Rams Head Live on February 12th. I expect to see you all there!
