Well we have already heard Stephen Malkmus one time in the Top 100 but he has 2 songs so here he is back at number 70!
“Cinnamon and Lesbians” is the second single and second to
last song on his 2014 album “Wig Out At Jagbags”. The song came out in February
and soared to number 5 on the weekly Top 100 at the end of March. I’m attaching
the video and here’s a blurb from SPIN about it:
"Directed by Jay Winebrenner, the video pairs nearly every line in the track
with a visual button. When the ex-Pavement leader sings of power lines, the
camera cuts to a shot of power lines. The "cinnamon and lesbians"
semi-rhyme conjures, well, a jar of cinnamon sticks and a lesbian couple. The
lyric, "I've been tripping my face off since breakfast" demands a
bowl of cereal and an on-the-nose, psychedelic color scheme. You get the idea."
