#74 Jack White - "High Ball Stepper"

Sometime in the beginning of April in a sort of sneaky move, Jack White released a new track into the world. Not only was it kind of a surprise to most, it was an instrumental track. “High Ball Stepper” came out with little fanfare and although it was outshined by more traditional songs like “Lazaretto”, the title track of White’s 2014 album, this song is pure musical heaven.

The video is pretty neat as well.  It features some paint and some speakers and a pretty cool if not minimal video idea. It doesn’t seem like Jack White can put out anything bad these days, and he has managed yet another 3 songs in the Top 100.  White has had a number one song of the year with the Raconteurs, 3 top 10 songs of the year with the White Stripes (“Fell In Love With A Girl”, “Seven Nation Army” and “Blue Orchid”) and Top 10 song of his own (“Love Interruption”) in 2012.  Can he make the number one spot this year?  We’ll see!
