DFA1979 is an interesting band to say the least. Punk rock
has certainly taken some odd twists and turns since the 90s and Sebastien
Grainger certainly pushed the envelope with synthy bass heavy punk. Their 2005
album was adored by music critics, hipsters and Canadian alike. DFA mysteriously broke up the next year after
only one record.
They reunited in 2011 and played some shows and new songs but it wasn’t until 2014 that they released a full length album. “The Psychical World” was released in September and the lead single cruised right into the top 20. It’s been a while since Death From Above 1979 has been in the top 100, welcome back!
